Kinship United

Kinship United rescues orphaned, abused, and neglected children in countries torn apart by war, poverty, and tragedy. We develop and support “Kinship Homes,” which are churches first with room for orphans and widows to live there in a safe, family environment. We provide orphans and widows with food, shelter, love and the opportunity to know Christ.

Our History

Established as Warm Blankets Orphan Care in 1999 by one family to care for orphans in Cambodia, we have blossomed into a thriving orphan care ministry across three continents working with six Founders and partnering with indigenous churches. We changed our name to Kinship United in 2016 to more accurately reflect our mission.

Our Mission

We unite people separated by war and tragedy, rebuild loving families for orphans and widows, and create networks of local churches and rescue centers.

Our Values

Create a kinship environment to care for the spiritual, physical, psychological, social, emotional, cognitive and cultural development of orphans — a place where childhoods can be restored to give them the best possible start in life. Where possible to restore the whole family and return separated children to their parents or extended family members.

What We Do

To date Kinship United has rescued thousands of orphans and placed them in over 200 safe and secure Kinship Church Homes where they are raised by the local pastor, his wife, and widows from the community. Our unique Kinship Church Home model is central to our ministry. Orphans and widows live together, side-by-side with the local church. Here, the women and children are surrounded with love and security like many of them have never before felt. We commit to building authentic family atmospheres, not the cold, institutionalized environment of a traditional orphanage. Within our walls, the children are taught the love of Jesus and raised to be Disciples of Christ and passionate, Biblically-rooted leaders among their generation.
