Brookwood is a growing program offering a unique residential teaching position in one of our group homes. Successful candidates will oversee much of the day-to-day activities in a home for 10-12 Brookwood Citizens. Supervisory or management background would be helpful in this critical role. Applicants must be mission-orientated individuals who have a desire to serve God by providing a nurturing environment for our Citizens. We prefer to have applicants with residential group home or direct care experience especially working with the elderly or those with disabilities. Where

Brookshire, Texas. The Brookwood Community provides RENT-FREE Housing for the Residential Home Managers.

When

Monday-Friday with a split schedule. Home Managers work 6:30am-9:30am, off in the afternoon, and return at 3:00pm-9:00pm to finish the daily shift.

Skills

The Residential Home Manager (Assisted Living Manager) ensures a safe, happy and healthy environment for our Citizens. The Residential Home Manager oversees all operations within the home in which they provide direct care. The Home Manager interfaces with other departments, including (but not limited to) medical, administration, work program, activities, and spiritual life. They also regularly interact with other Residential Community Members in order to provide a true sense of community and “home” for our citizens. This position is responsible for a variety of administrative duties, including (but not limited to) dealing with personal finances of those living in the home, communicating with the Citizen’s family, the general management and stewardship of the home’s budget and expenses, interviewing, hiring, training new Community Members, reviewing performance, and overseeing day-to-day operations within the home. Additionally, they perform direct care duties including (but not limited to) administering treatments and prescribed medications, house maintenance and cleaning, meal preparation, and reporting any change in health condition. Some (but not all) of these duties may be delegated to the Community Members that the Home Manager oversees; however, it is the responsibility of Home Manager to ensure all necessary tasks are performed. Residential Home Managers are to exemplify leadership in a way that is aligned with Brookwood’s GOD RICH core values. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. A. Education and Experience – Prefer undergraduate degree with 2 to 5 years’ experience working with adults with functional disabilities. Previous experience supervising a group home is desirable but not required. Home Managers are expected to participate in on-going professional training opportunities to enhance their knowledge of specific disabilities in order to better understand the citizen’s medical, psychological, and vocational needs. B. Skills and Abilities – Home Managers should possess personal characteristics such as patience, tolerance, and a willingness to learn more about specific disabilities and adapt to expectations. They must have a strong sense of serving and caring for the needs of adults with functional disabilities. In addition, he/she must possess strong written and verbal language skills and be competent in relevant computer skills. C. Reasoning Ability – Home Managers should have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of individual behavioral issues while maintaining control of a home situation. D. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – Consideration given to CPR and First Aid. Home Teachers must possess a minimum of a valid driver’s license from the State of Texas. IV. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, an employee is frequently required to communicate by listening or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; stoop; kneel; bend; crouch; crawl; and climb stairs. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or transfer a citizen to and from a wheelchair or bed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs. (i.e. when transferring a citizen to and from a bed or a wheelchair).
