Goshen Valley Boys Ranch, a division of Goshen Valley Foundation, is located on 160 acres in northern Cherokee County and home to around 40 young foster-care men. The boys’ ranch is seeking mission-minded married couples who feel called to minister to youth in a residential setting.

As a Goshen Valley Boys Ranch Houseparent you will:
– Provide parenting for boys assigned to your care, while managing and caring for the house and yard.
– Provide a home environment in which each boy and family member has respect, a strong sense of belonging, and responsibility.
– Perform all housekeeping and maintenance duties associated with living in a GVBR home.
– Provide care, counseling, guidance, tutoring, encouragement, spiritual and moral leadership and instruction, example, and support as needed for every boy assigned to their home.
– Cook, clean, launder, and provide general house maintenance as needed for the efficient operation of a home.
– Work with each boy in the areas of family life, spiritual growth, education, and the development of a strong work ethic.
– Help each boy develop a sense of responsibility, respect for the rights and property of others, personal values and self-esteem, personal reliance on self and God, and a life plan/direction.
– Keep accurate daily records of activities, finances,, issues, and the individual progress of each boy.
Participate in community activities, including weekly church service.
Skills
As a Goshen Valley Boys Ranch Houseparent you will:
– Be hired as a couple married to each other.
– One or both must have, or be working toward gaining a bachelors Degree, or have a minimum of three years of experience house-parenting for a youth care agency.
– Both must have a GED or High School Diploma.
– Must have a demonstrated understanding and ability to work with troubled youth, and have experience working with youth in an official capacity.
– Must be of good character, and supportive of the programs, policies, and ideals of GVBR.
– Must be able to pass a drug and background check, possess a valid driver’s license, and be insurable by the GVF insurance carrier.
– Must hold first aid and CPR certification, and have or obtain a minimum of 24 clock hours of training relative to working with troubled youth/childcare agency procedures, as required by the state.
– Must be able to demonstrate the ability to provide moral, ethical, and spiritual leadership that coincides with the program and policies of GVF.
