Partnership is the heart of Bethany\’s ministry in the Dominican Republic: it\’s a two-way relationship. Teams go door to door with Dominican Christians to reach their community for Christ. Children flock to Vacation Bible School in large numbers. Youth teams bond with Dominican teens through concerts and sports. The team works alongside local believers on church or community construction projects.

Skills that individuals might find helpful while on the missions field are: Having a teachable attitude. Good communication/teamwork skills. Being good with children. Good with hands (handy work). Individuals with a medical work experience will have the opportunity to do so.
Bethany partners with a network of churches called Harvest churches. The leaders of the Harvest churches decide which church will host each team. They match the team’s gifts and skills with the needs of that community. Some teams work with churches in the city while others serve with country churches. Teams with medical training put on clinics for communities with no access to good health care. Harvest churches seek to serve the poorest members of their communities – often widows and single mothers. Most teams do a mix of evangelism, construction and children’s ministry.
