Group Mission Trip to Puerto Rico 2020
Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico in September 2017. Millions of people were left without electricity, with limited access to clean water, and with damaged homes. While supplies and assistance have been arriving to the island since the hurricane, help will be needed for years to come to rebuild Puerto Rico.
Prior to the hurricane, Group International Mission Trips had strong relationships with mayors and local churches in several municipalities, and never has the time been so right for those strong relationships to shine. We will be working with closely with the mayors and the churches to provide much needed assistance to hurricane victims, whether that will be through distributing food and supplies, or identifying which homes are in need of critical repair and providing teams to help with painting, roof repair, debris clean-up, or whatever else is needed.
Because Puerto Rico is a US Territory, you do not need a passport to travel there, and many Puerto Ricans speak English, making it an easy location for first time mission teams to visit. Your team will be lodged in safe and secure facilities with access to electricity and running water, and will be provided with meals and drinking water. We encourage you to link arms with us in helping our friends and fellow US citizens rebuild their homes and their lives.
UPDATE: So far we have mobilized more than 900 volunteers to bring relief to PUerto Rico. Our teams have handed out water and food, cleaned up debris, replaced roofs, and performed general maintenance for residents impacted by the hurricane.
But there is still so much more work to be done! Please consider bringing your heart and hands to our beautiful neighbors in the Caribbean.
For more information about participating in these recovery trips, please call us at 1-970-800-4000. Even if you can’t go, you may be able to help in other ways.
Thanks for your ongoing love and compassion for people in Puerto Rico.
