Group Workcamp Parma, Ohio

Situated on the beautiful northern coast of Ohio, Parma is the largest suburb of Cleveland, located only 9 miles south from downtown Cleveland.

Like many cities dotting the industrial Midwest, the Cleveland area is an amazing network of communities that were developed as businesses grew and the complexities of producing materials to support them grew right alongside. Parma is one important city among them all.

While there are certainly many beautiful homes, they are located near others in complete disrepair. Parma has been hit hard by the loss of manufacturing jobs and the past foreclosure crisis which has left families striving to maintain pride in their community. You can help them by simply showing up and encouraging their tenacity through a week of home repairs.

For ages 12+

Parma has many attractions nearby. Take a short drive to Cleveland to enjoy the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Science Center, or the Metroparks Zoo and Rainforest. Escape to Huntington Beach on Lake Erie or if you’re up for the drive, take an hour drive south to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

For all you adrenaline-junkies, take an hour drive west to Cedar Point Amusement Park which boasts “the world’s first and only steel-on-wood hybrid roller coaster, standing over 200 feet tall.”

You will stay in a large, local high school.

Your participants will provide home repairs at no cost for elderly, disabled, and disadvantaged people who need your help. Work crews typically serve the same resident for the entire trip, creating an environment where meaningful relationships develop.

Most projects are designed to be completed during the trip, allowing your group to experience the satisfaction of a job well done. You’ll serve the needs of others through projects like interior and exterior painting, building or repairing porches and wheelchair ramps, building or repairing steps, weatherization and other home repairs. No skills are needed!
