Home Repair in Montezuma Creek, Utah

The Navajo Nation is one of the most impoverished  places in the United States, a shocking indictment for injustice in the richest nation on earth.

This is high desert country with sweeping sagebrush vistas, breath-taking canyons, and towering mesas. Montezuma Creek is remote—houses are far apart on unimproved dirt roads. The resident you serve may not have running water or electricity. The housing stock is perhaps the neediest in the United States—conditions are third-world in many ways. This means your help is truly needed here!

You will be staying in a clean, well-maintained school. Every afternoon you will come home to wonderful, air-conditioned rooms!

What We Will Do

While the desert conditions provide a challenge, the work will be challenging as well. Your work will be carefully selected to preserve the house and provide for the health and safety of the resident. Expect to be doing large projects, like installing metal roofs and building sturdy ramps and porches. There may be some painting, but only when it is absolutely necessary to preserve the siding. No cosmetic work here!

Since 2000 we have partnered with this group of state and local housing agencies and local tribal leaders to serve communities on the Utah portion of the Navajo reservation. We are here at the specific invitation of Navajo leaders, and the people here know us. Though your work will be challenging, you will get plenty of help and guidance from experienced and skilled local project advisors, people who do this kind of work every day.
