International Mission Trip to Big Lake, Alaska
To many, Alaska stands as America’s final frontier—beautiful, rugged, and maybe even a little dangerous. But for those few who call Alaska home, hardship is constantly knocking at the door, especially for the elderly. The extreme weather conditions, the annual risk of wildfires, the tension of different cultures living in close proximity, a surprising number of homeless people (especially teenagers), and high rates of alcoholism, domestic violence, and sexual assault make it anything but a glamorous and inviting place to live at times.
When you serve in Alaska with Group International Mission Trips, you’ll have the chance to serve alongside those who are making a difference in Alaska. This experience will grow your faith and expand your understanding of the complexity of poverty and cultural diversity, even within our own country.
