Action International Ministries (ACTION) has “boots on the ground” in 25 countries on four continents. In South America we have missionaries and ministry centers open to receiving short-term and long-term workers in Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico and Paraguay for people even if they have no or minimal Spanish or Portuguese language skills. For those who are fluent in Spanish, we also have ministry work opportunities in Peru and Chile.
Locations include Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru. Each ministry location has unique ministries so the ACTION Mobilization team will work with you to find a good fit for you and for our missionaries.
Trips and internships can be scheduled year-round with approval of the ACTION home office and the missionary. Like most missionaries, those who serve with ACTION take furloughs periodically. We will coordinate a trip or internship that works for both parties.
Most of our ministry centers in South America enthusiastically welcome North Americans who desire to use their God given gifts in an cross-cultural ministry context. Since we have so many missionaries in these countries, the opportunities are literally endless for how people can serve. A few examples include children’s outreach and camps, English teaching and tutoring, drug and alcohol rehab ministry, construction projects, Christmas and Easter outreach, music classes, sports ministry and so on.
What We Will Do
Trip participants and interns will receive an orientation from their missionary hosts upon arrival. The visiting short-termers will plug into existing ministries and every effort will be made to ensure the work being done will continue well after the visitors leave. This may include camps or VBS programs that will be conducted alongside national staff members or volunteers. Other possible ministries are listed above in the “Skills” section. Time will be spent with the missionaries and other local believers to tell stories of God’s grace and rejoice together in our great Salvation that spans countries, cultures and customs. Opportunities will be given to pray with one another to encourage each person in their walk with and love for the Lord. Those interested in leading a team or going as an intern are encouraged to let us know what they believe God has laid on their heart regarding the location where they hope to serve and the types of ministries they are interested in. Having a servant’s heart and being flexible is key for everyone.
