Hurricane Relief Puerto Rico | Group Mission Trips

Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico in September 2017. Millions of people were left without electricity, with limited access to clean water, and with damaged homes. While supplies and assistance have been arriving to the island since the hurricane, help will be needed for years to come to rebuild Puerto Rico. Prior to the hurricane, Group International Mission Trips had strong relationships with mayors and local churches in several municipalities, and never has the time been so right for those strong relationships to shine. We will be working with closely with the mayors and the churches to provide much needed assistance to hurricane victims, whether that will be through distributing food and supplies, or identifying which homes are in need of critical repair and providing teams to help with painting, roof repair, debris clean-up, or whatever else is needed. But there is still so much more work to be done! Please consider bringing your heart and hands to our beautiful neighbors in the Caribbean. Because Puerto Rico is a US Territory, you do not need a passport to travel there, and many Puerto Ricans speak English, making it an easy location for first time mission teams to visit. Your team will be lodged in safe and secure facilities with access to electricity and running water, and will be provided with meals and drinking water. We encourage you to link arms with us in helping our friends and fellow US citizens rebuild their homes and their lives.

Taking a Group International Mission Trip lets you see the world through God’s eyes. You’ll gain a fresh perspective about the work God does in local communities throughout the world and that new view will make you more aware of the different cultures and misperceptions about where you’re serving. With a deeper insight, you’ll return home transformed. Plus, you’ll grow closer to Jesus through acts of service and get to know him more deeply. We’ve partnered with long-term ministries that are rooted in the countries we serve. As you’re reading this, they are passionately serving and loving their neighbors, working to meet physical and spiritual needs in Jesus’ name. When we arrive, we come alongside their efforts for long-lasting impact. Types of work vary based on location, no special skills are needed!

What We Will Do

On our recovery trips, you might be involved with these types of projects (subject to change):

  • Help with minor home repair and roof projects
  • Help with debris clearing and residential cleanup
  • Provide help to families and individuals impacted by the hurricanes
  • Deliver supplies and food to residents in need
  • Assist in other ways as needed.

Because the situation on the ground is constantly changing, we ask that you come with a flexible spirit, ready to serve in any way that is needed. Our Partners For the past 10 years, we’ve partnered with the city municipalities of Cayey, Ponce, and others, sending hundreds of people to help elderly and disabled people with home repair and maintenance. We’ll keep partnering with these cities to bring much-needed supplies and recovery in 2020 and beyond. We ask for your continued prayers and support.
