ACK DIocese of Kitale

The Diocese of Kitale is one of the 42 dioceses under the Anglican Church of Kenya, which is part of the global Anglican Communion. Our journey traces its roots back to the historic Diocese of Mombasa, which was subdivided in 1961 to form the Fort Hall, Maseno, and Nakuru dioceses. Kitale was initially part of Nakuru until 1983, when it became part of the newly created Diocese of Eldoret under the late Bishop Alexander Kipsang Muge. Following his untimely demise in 1990, Bishop Stephen Kewasis Nyorsok succeeded him, continuing the mission in Eldoret.

Our Establishment and Growth
The Diocese of Kitale was formally established on 1st July 1997, having been carved out of the Diocese of Eldoret. The first Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Stephen Kewasis Nyorsok, led the diocese until 2018. The current Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chemengich, was consecrated on 7th October 2018. Under the leadership of these visionary bishops, the Diocese has experienced tremendous growth and success, becoming a beacon of faith, development, and hope in the North Rift region.

Guiding the Mission: The Three Mandates of the Diocese
The activities of all these departments are directed by the Standing Committee of Synod and its three boards, which are entrusted with specific mandates:
1. Evangelism and Discipleship Mandate
Led by the Board of Mission and Discipleship (BMD), this mandate focuses on bringing people to Christ, nurturing them into mature disciples, and equipping them to serve in various ministries and lead others to faith.
2. Stewardship Mandate
The Board of Administration and Finance (BAF) oversees this mandate, ensuring the church effectively mobilizes and manages its resources for long-term sustainability.
3. Society-Transformation Mandate
The Board of Education and Social Services (BESS) spearheads this mandate to promote positive transformation within the larger society through education, social services, and community development.
All these programmes and projects are facilitated by the Diocesan Office and their relevant Departments, Boards, and Committees.
