Without the ability to return to a location where they can safely and comfortably relax, team members will often become ill, reducing the amount of time they can devote to their service commitments.
Bel Fle Missions Hotel opened in 2015 as a program of Matthew 25: Ministries. The mission of Matthew 25: Ministries is to fulfill Matthew 25:34-40 of the New Testament by providing nutritional food to the hungry, clean water to the thirsty, clothing to the naked, affordable shelter to the homeless, medical care to the ill, and humanitarian supplies to those in need. Additionally, Matthew 25: Ministries is committed to fulfilling Matthew 25:40 by educating the public on the conditions and needs of the “least of these;” and by providing resources for action.
Bel Fle Missions Hotel is one of many programs Matthew 25: Ministries supports in Haiti and worldwide. These programs include community development, job preparedness, educational enrichment and micro-enterprise development. The purpose of the Bel Fle program is to provide a much needed service for missionaries and mission teams as well as to provide employment and additional benefits for Haitian workers. THE STORY OF BEL FLE
Bel Fle, noun, beautiful flower (Haitian Creole)
There once lived a very unhappy man who was a carrier of water. He hated carrying water and despised his master for giving him such a lowly job.
To escape the whispers of the women who gathered at the well each morning, he would arrive at first light, draw his water and be on his way. To lessen the number of trips to the well, he tied a large clay jar to each end of a long, sturdy pole. He could now carry twice as much water, but the journey was twice as strenuous.
Then one day he noticed a little thing, but something big enough to completely change his life forever. There it was at his feet—a delicate, beautiful example of how any job given by the master, if the servant was obedient, could bring about something wonderful. Looking down, he smiled. At that very moment, he realized that he had no control over the job the master gave him, only how he would perform it.
From that day on, he changed. He was no longer just a carrier of water, but one that brought beauty and joy into the lives of the countless people who traveled that dusty road.
One day, a fellow traveler motioned for him to stop. “I have a question,” he said. “It’s about your clay jars. One jar is perfect in every way. Not a drop of water is lost from this jar. But, the other jar. It has cracks and chips everywhere and the lid wobbles terribly. Water spills from this jar. The jar has to be half empty by the time you reach your destination. Why don’t you replace it with a new jar, one more efficient?”
Looking back at the path he had just traveled, the carrier of water smiled and said with great delight, “Look, my friend . . . you tell me. On which side of the road do the flowers grow? They do not grow on the side of the perfect jar. The side of the road where the flowers grow is on the side of the imperfect jar. It is the blemished and worn jar that brings the flowers to life in the spring and waters them all summer long.”
“Once I was consumed with bitterness,” the carrier confessed, “until that day when I saw those flowers at my feet. I realized then that the master could use me, imperfections and all, to bring beauty into my life and the lives of others. On which side of the road do the flowers grow? Not on the side of the perfect jar, but on the side of the one with all the imperfections.”
The mission of the Bel Fle Missions Hotel is to serve a unique, multi-layered purpose in Haiti, providing quality, low-cost US standard accommodations to missionaries and mission teams; and providing employment, skill development, and additional benefits to Haitian workers.
The property provides economy double occupancy US standard rooms surrounded by lush Haitian greenery and a protective security wall. Bel Fle has staff on duty 24 hours a day and 24 hour security to ensure the safety of the guests.

Matthew 25: Ministries began as the result of a trip Founder and President Reverend Wendell Mettey made with a group of doctors and nurses to Nicaragua in 1990. Upon leaving, Pastor Mettey made a promise to himself that he would find a way to help the people of Nicaragua.
Over the years, Matthew 25’s distribution activities have grown to include partners in Greater Cincinnti, as well as partners throughout the United States and around the world. Since 1991, Matthew 25: Ministries has grown from a small group of dedicated individuals carrying supplies in suitcases to an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization distributing over 15,000,000 pounds of products and helps more than 19,000,000 people each year locally, nationally and internationally.
Matthew 25: Ministries distributes clothing, medical supplies, personal care items, school supplies, food and beverages, household supplies, cleaning products, reblended paint and micro-enterprise supplies each year through projects targeted to specific regions and needs. Matthew 25 seeks to address the comprehensive problems of severe poverty worldwide by fostering an environment where individuals can utilize assistance to take steps toward a more sustainable future for themselves and their communities.
In addition to providing ongoing humanitarian aid and catastrophic disaster relief, Matthew 25: Ministries has developed a number of manufacturing and repurposing programs designed to meet targeted needs throughout the US and worldwide: Matthew 25’s Food Processing Center produces a shelf-stable, nutritionally enhanced rice/soy blend for $.10 a serving; their Grow Right Micronutrient Supplement Program enhances children’s nutritional health; their “Write Your Future” program supports education through the manufacture of school notebooks and pencils; their Rainbow Paint Reblending Program collects and reblends leftover paint; their “Building a New Life” program supports the development of sustainable communities; their Disaster Relief Services provide relief, recovery and rebuilding support to areas suffering from catastrophic disasters.
Matthew 25 welcomes more than 50,000 volunteers each year who help sort, process and prepare donations for shipment. More than 99% of Matthew 25: Ministries cash and in-kind donations go toward programs.
