Casa Guatemala

Casa Guatemala is a children’s village on the isolated shores of the Rio Dulce, Guatemala. We seek to provide a safe, loving and nurturing home, providing proper health care and a well-rounded education to the children of Guatemala who are abused, abandoned, malnourished, or living in extreme poverty.

Casa Guatemala is a registered NGO and receives no government funding. We rely on funds from individuals and groups around the world to provide care for up to 250 children at our village and in the larger community. The majority of these children come from families from the surrounding Mayan villages who live in cases of extreme poverty who, without Casa Guatemala, would have no other access to education.

Our History

Since 1977, Casa Guatemala has helped thousands of vulnerable children from around Guatemala. Over the years we have facilitated hundreds of adoptions around the world, rehabilitated thousands of malnourished children and provided a loving home, education and health care for over 250 children per year.

Our Mission

Casa Guatemala seeks to provide a safe home, love and nurturing, proper health care, and an excellent education to the children of Guatemala who are abused, abandoned, malnourished, or living in extreme poverty.

Our Values

Education – Only 30% of Guatemalan children finish elementary school. We’re helping change that by helping >250 children progress through early education.
Nutrition – We provide nutritious meals and nutritional education to our children and the wider community.
Health care – Our medical clinic provides free health care for the children of Casa Guatemala and surrounding communities.
Empowerment – We strive to prepare our children for independent living and have created various self-sufficiency projects to help with this.

What We Do

Casa Guatemala is a registered NGO and receives no government funding. We rely on funds from individuals and groups around the world to provide care for up to 300 children at our village and in the larger community. These children have been wards of the State, but these days the majority come from families from the surrounding Mayan villages who live in cases of extreme poverty who, without Casa Guatemala, would have no other access to education.

Casa Guatemala strives to equip the children in their care with the skills and education needed to become upstanding, empowered citizens in their community and to become fully self-sustained through the businesses that they run which provide financial support and meaningful job training for the older children.
