Development Initiative Network (DIN) is a local non-profit organization currently working in Chikwawa District.DIN was established in February 2012 to respond to the needs and challenges affecting communities in Malawi. DIN is registered under NGO Act (formerly Trustees Incorporation Act) registration number: TR/INC-6305.
Since its inception, DIN has been conducting community baseline surveys on Youth Development, Education (early childhood development, primary and secondary school education) Climate Change, Safe Motherhood & Maternal Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Gender (Women Empowerment), Food Security, Human Rights, and HIV/AIDS in different communities in Chikwawa District.DIN believes that establishing baseline facts on the social economic status of its target communities will provide a platform for enhanced program interventions.
DIN further understands that for sustainable development to materialize communities are the drivers of the process hence having a Mission to give hope and faith to communities especially less privileged, the needy, orphans and vulnerable children through social and economic empowerment. To attain its objectives, DIN promotes the establishment of partnerships with local and international Organizations in order to advance its agenda and achieve its mission.
Specifically, DIN would like to improve food security among vulnerable communities through viable agriculture practices and storage; improve health living standards of people through provision of water and sanitation resources, establishment of Home Based Care Committees, health living training, safe motherhood and HIV/AIDS training; promote access to, and quality of education standards for children, young people and adults through establishment of early childhood development centres, primary, secondary schools and adult literacy; increase income levels of marginalized groups through the establishment of village savings and loans, self-help schemes and income generating activities; and empower communities in climate change adaptation strategies with special emphasis on community forestation and risk disaster preparedness.

Ensure gender equality and eliminating discrimination that harmfully affects sexual and reproductive health in the community. Sexual and reproductive health rights for every in community. Provision of broad, integrated health services through innovative community based and clinical services. Assortment and participation of all people and people living with HIV/AIDS in programing and governance Working with well-qualified staff and volunteers in various activities in the community Partnership with stakeholders to contribute towards improvement in the Health, climate change, human rights, food security and youth participation in community. Development Initiative Network - What We Do
Since 2012 we have been conducting research on Climate Change, Safe Motherhood & Maternal Reproductive Health, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Gender (Women Empowerment), Food Security, Human Rights, Youth Development, Education (early child development, primary and secondary school), Social &Economical Services and HIV/AIDS in different communities in Chikwawa District as the core area of the organization. We believe in conducting research before we carry out any programme. DIN is working in collaboration with District Health Office, Department of Gender and Child Development, Department of Education, District Youth Office, chiefs and community members.
