Our Mission

To rescue, rehabilitate, reconcile and resettle street children, abandoned babies and high risk slum families in Uganda. The two main aspects of our mission include the rehabilitation and restoration of street children by meeting their physical need and reconciling them back to God. Secondly, to work with the community to promote change in the perception of street children; giving an opportunity for communities to take responsibility for the children at risk.

Our Values

Christ–serving with His love, compassion and prayer support. Team work, Multiculturalism and Diversity, Quality at Workplace, Innovation and Flexibility, Integrity, Transparency, and Professionalism.

What We Do

The Four Core Program Areas (4RS)

Rescue – Social workers from Dwelling Places build relationships with street children through the mobile clinics and personal interactions; through the children we get connected with the families.

Rehabilitation – Street children are often social outcasts; some of them became sexually active, alcoholics, thieves, and drug users at a very young age. Dwelling Places rehabilitates these children in our Transitional Rehabilitation Home (TRH), and helps them to catch up in education through our Interim School.

Reconciliation – Once a child has been rehabilitated, our goal is to return them to a family environment and the community. The child’s family is then enrolled onto our Family Empowerment and Preservation Programme (FEPP) through which they acquire services like; functional adult literacy, health, business training, small business loans to set up income generating activities, counseling and spiritual welfare, nutritional support especially to parents that are HIV Positive.

Resettlement – Once we have found a loving family for a child, we resettle the child into that family. We continue to work with the child and the family, providing for basic supplies and quarterly follow up visits, education costs if necessary, to ensure that the resettlement is sustainable.
