Cry Cameroom USA dba Harvest Children’s Homes

Harvest Children’s Home is the primary project of Cry Cameroon Ministries and was established to rescue and give a new family, a new hope and a new future to orphaned children whose parents were victims of AIDS, Malaria and other tragedies. The Children’s Home provides housing, education, health and nutritional care to the children as well as spiritual and biblical guidance. 98% of all the needs of the orphanage are met by funds raised in the US by Cry Cameroon Ministries [USA] www.crycameroon.org. This is possible because of a few praying and generous mission-minded Churches and a small dedicated family of Christian partners all over the US.

Today, through the ongoing efforts of Cry Cameroon Ministries [USA], it’s dedicated partners, and HCH’s staff members, Harvest Children’s Home is a real home to 60-70 (on average) orphans. Each year it moves more towards professionalism and excellence. Each year all the school age children are sent to local elementary and high schools and the younger ones, who are not of school age, are given day care type education. The children are supplied uniforms, school supplies, books, and all their tuitions. This is a major ongoing challenge, because there is no such thing as “free public education” in the area and no scholarships or grants are earmarked for orphans.

Since 2004, Cry Cameroon Ministries [USA] has also been instrumental in sending multiple volunteer ministry teams from the USA to Harvest Children’s Home. Their missions were many including: staff training on how to better care for the children, how to improve their quality of life and how to better prepare them to be contributing leaders in Cameroon’s future. The stability of these children and hope for a better tomorrow depend solely on God’s grace manifested in the charitable acts of compassionate people like you, the loving dedication of the HCH staff, and the prayers, wisdom, and vision of the US based volunteer Board of Directors of Cry Cameroon Ministries [USA].

Our History

Harvest Children’s Home began out of deep concern, to answer the needs of desperate children whose parents died of the killer disease, AIDS. The Lord laid a burden on the heart of Rev Valentin Mbong, who in 1992, took a bold step of faith and began to sensitize communities and local Churches about the impending doom of these helpless orphaned children.

Our Mission

The future of Harvest Children’s Homes is very bright. As God brings caring people our way and moves them to be involved we hope to accomplish a number of exciting things.

The first is to deepen the excellence of care for the children. At the most basic level, their diet could be more nutritious, encompassing more fresh fruits and vegetables, even meat on occasion. Improved shower and toilet facilities are needed for them as well. We have a dream of providing more private Christian education and job skills training so our kids will move into adulthood fully prepared to not only succeed, but lead in their generation. This also means sending them for a University level education.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the dream of the Cry Cameroon Ministries [USA] board is to “perfect” and standardize each aspect of the facility, staff, finances and procedures at this home in Fundong so it can be replicated throughout Cameroon and beyond where hundreds of thousands of children just like these wait for a new family a new hope and a new future. You and I hold the key to that future and by the grace of God, we’ll all work together to see this dream become a reality for many more needy orphans.
