Himalayan Foundation Nepal HFN

Nepal is one of the world’s poorest countries with the 21st highest poverty rate. Half the population is jobless and many live on $1 US or less per day. In this condition it is very hard for families to send their children to school so they never get the opportunity to gain an education. without an education it is very difficult for these children to achieve a better life for themselves in a world where education is the new currency. Education is paramount in helping the community children of Nepal without it they face a future that leads to poverty.

HFN is attempting to improve these community children’s lives and futures by running a sponsorship program for Community Children from low income families. Sponsorship through HFN provides children with the invaluable opportunity to enter or remain in education, and end the cycle of poverty due to lack of education. The Himalayan Foundation Nepal (HFN) organizes church mission programs for international volunteers to help support and raise awareness of the Nepalese Christian community. There are currently many churches in Nepal which HFN works in partnership with in districts such as SindhuPalscuk, Makawonpur and Chitwan. These places are all potential locations for mission operations.

Christianity is still a new religion in Nepal. Until January 15, 2007, Nepal’s constitution stated that the country was a Hindu Kingdom. Under the Interim Constitution proposed thereafter, Nepal has converted its status to a secular state, which is a big step towards religious freedom and tolerance. Unfortunately, there is still much persecution towards minority religious groups, like Christianity, which face problems of harassment and social discrimination from society at large.

The goal of this program is to spread the love of Jesus to local communities through evangelism and community support-oriented activities. Individual volunteers (as well as larger groups) can set up volunteer programs with local churches and their missionary outreach programs, using each volunteer’s individual experience and passion to contribute to the ever expanding Christian community in Nepal. We encourage you to visit Mission in Church to learn more about Christian ministry in Nepal.

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20
