We mobilize short term teams which provide basic medical care to impoverished Dominicans and Haitian refugees in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, working with local churches to strengthen their evangelistic impact. Medical training (any level), general construction skills, children’s ministry experience are helpful.
Island Impact Ministries is a U.S. registered, 501(c) non-profit organization established in 2003 and dedicated to providing much-needed medical, educational, spiritual, and construction assistance to the people of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Island Impact was founded by Rob and Kelli Nelson, Rob is from Southampton, NY and is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and has been a missionary for 17 years working to provide education for the poorest of the poor. Kelli is from Binghamton, NY. She is an Nurse Practitioner and has been a missionary since 1986. They have lived in Haiti for nine years and the Dominican Republic for seven.
Island Impact Ministries partners with the indigenous churches + community leaders in the Dominican Republic and Haiti to provide primary healthcare to the poor. We also assist the local communities with the basic needs. This is accomplished by hosting Global teams to who bring skills, supplies and the heart of God to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

We have many teams that come through out the year. Medical teams come to provide mobile clinics in remote locations, or offer free surgeries, vital medicines and supplies to people who need it most. Breast Cancer teams and dental teams. Construction teams focus on projects to improve and repair schools, clinics, hospitals and orphanages. We have Evangelistic teams that focus on the gospel and outreach with children’s ministry.
