Outreach International is a British social enterprise that has been supporting overseas volunteers since 1998. We support inspiring community projects in Africa, Asia and South America. We identify volunteers with the skills, capacity and compassion to make a difference through their work as teachers, carers, therapists, healthcare professionals or business people. We provide the support to volunteers to make their experience with ethical projects both accessible and assured. A number of our projects work on Christian values and benefit from those volunteers who share their belief and passion for Christ.
Outreach International started placing volunteers in 1998 as a reaction to witnessing humble community projects helping the most disadvantaged in society who live alongside some of the most affluent tourist destinations. Through our network of country coordinators we now support 60 ethical and responsible, community-led projects in 8 countries. These projects have benefited from over 2,000 volunteers who have offered their time and skills to help their community.
Our mission is to improve the outcomes of those projects we support, by matching good quality volunteers to their identified needs. We also believe volunteering is a fundamentally ‘good’ developmental experience, and we promote the benefits of this widely, and in particular to young adults for whom this can be a transformational experience.
We only support sustainable, community-led projects where we truly believe there is a need for volunteers. We assess the projects personally to take direct accountability for the information and the volunteer service we offer, which we believe to be responsible, ethical and transparent.
Outreach International - What We Do
We support charitable projects that need the input of volunteers but do not have the means to promote their mission, or support volunteers directly. We source good quality volunteers for them; those that can really make a difference to the outcomes of the project, through their skills, experience, capacity and compassion. Volunteers benefit by being responsibly matched to a community project that has been visited and assessed by us, and by being given the pre-trip and in-country support to make this a realizable experience.
