The name Practical Missions Cohort (PMc) reflects the heart of our ministry: engaging in biblical missions that are both grounded in Scripture and tangible in their application. Initially, Practical Missions began as the name of a blog created during our early missionary years to share insights and experiences in evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. The word "practical" emerged from influences like A.W. Pink’s Practical Christianity, resonating with our desire to make biblical truths accessible and actionable, especially regarding the Great Commission.
When forming our mission organization in 2016, we retained the term “Practical Missions” to emphasize our commitment to biblical missions—evangelizing the lost, discipling believers, and planting healthy, biblical churches. However, we needed to distinguish the name further, and the word “Cohort” was inspired by the Italian Cohort mentioned in Acts 10. It reflects the concept of a dedicated group of individuals working together on a mission, particularly in the spiritually challenging context of Italy.
While missions often defy conventional practicality due to God’s extraordinary ways, we use "practical" to highlight our approach to missions as rooted in biblical wisdom and everyday obedience. Together, the name encapsulates our vision: a community of laborers (a band of missionaries) united in living out God’s mission in real, impactful ways.
