Project Mexico & St. Innocent Orphanage

Project Mexico & St. Innocent Orphanage strives to relieve the suffering of impoverished families with inadequate homes as well as providing a loving and permanent home for adolescent and teen boys who are orphaned. While serving those in need, we bring hundreds of missionaries into Mexico each year to share in these works of Mercy in the name of Jesus Christ.

Our History

Project Mexico was founded in 1988 by Greg Yova who had a strong desire to provide Orthodox Christian youth with an opportunity to look beyond themselves and reach out in a very personal and meaningful way to those in need in Mexico. The ministry sought to provide secure and safe homes to struggling families, helping them make a better life for themselves. After quickly recognizing that many teenage boys were living on the streets of Tijuana without a family, Greg began working with the local, state and federal governments in Mexico to establish an orphanage. After a substantial amount of planning, preparation and hard work, government approval was obtained and St. Innocent Orphanage opened its doors in 1996.

Our Mission

Project Mexico & St. Innocent Orphanage performs works of mercy and helps others do works of mercy in the name of Jesus Christ, transcending cultural barriers by building homes for the poor in Mexico and by providing a home for orphaned boys through St. Innocent Orphanage.

What We Do

Since 1988, Project Mexico has been building safe, secure and weather-tight homes for some of the most impoverished families in Northern Mexico. Every home is constructed over the course of four days and built entirely with volunteer labor. Once complete, these homes are provided so that these families can build a brighter future for themselves and their children. St. Innocent Orphanage is located near Rosarito, Mexico on a beautiful 16-acre ranch. St. Innocent Orphanage was founded in 1996, by Greg Yova, to provide a home for orphaned teenage boys. This home surpasses the basic needs of our youngsters and provides them with spiritual direction, a public education enhanced by private tutoring, athletics and extra-curricular activities and most importantly, tremendous amounts of love from all of the staff and volunteers.
