Save Street Children Uganda (SASCU)

Save Street Children Uganda (SASCU) is a registered non-governmental organization in Uganda that works with street and former street children, the OVC’s and the vulnerable youth to achieve their dreams and full potential . SASCU removes children from the streets and integrates them into educational and vocational technical institutions.

Volunteers play a very big role in organizational development. Over the past years, volunteers have had a big impact as far as resource mobilization, sponsorship, capacity building and publications of SASCU work is concerned. Every year, SASCU hosts a team of volunteers who come to learn and share their work relevant to improving the situation of vulnerable children

We welcome groups, families, children and adults to join us in Uganda. You will inspire others and build life long relationships with our people. Your impact in missions is a life changing experience for you and the children of Uganda.

Your faithful prayers are extremely important to SASCU. Jesus taught, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. The power of prayer should not be underestimated. Please pray earnestly for God’s Kingdom to be impacted through SASCU.

Our History

My name is Innocent Byaruhanga Oburye. I am the Founder and Director of Save Street Children Uganda (SASCU). As a child, I lived on the streets of Kampala for nine years, eating from garbage and sleeping in the cold.

In 1999, a missionary shared the love of Jesus with me and took me away from the life of homelessness. I accepted Christ and God set me on a new path.

The vision of SASCU started in 2005 with 9 street children staying with me in a small room with no ventilation or windows. God has grown it greatly! We have rescued and reintegrated children from the street and vulnerable communities. Currently we have 54 resident children at our children’s home. These children have a bright future, filled with hope. We have a primary school that reaches out to the surrounding slum community with a quality, Christian based education.

I know the despair, hopelessness, condemnation and misconception that street children face. God has placed a strong desire in me to be an advocate for children’s justice.

Many of these children are awaiting your sponsorship so as to attain an education. I hope God touches your heart as he has mine and gives you a desire to help educate, protect, and skill street children and other vulnerable children in Uganda.

May we, as obedient followers, plead the case of the orphan (Jeremiah 5:28), defend them (Psalms 82:3, Isaiah 1:17), not deprive them justice (Deuteronomy 24:17) and look after them (James 1:27).

Would you join our efforts in the work God is doing and be an instrument of change in defending the fatherless?
