What We Do
EDUCATION
Throughout history it has been confirmed that money will always lose its value, but knowledge lasts forever. Nonetheless, for many today money is still perceived as the most important necessity of life. Based on Ecclesiastes 7:12, Springs of Mercy Charity Foundation acknowledges that the value of money is temporal, but “wisdom preserves the life of its possessor.”. Our ministry uses education to enhance not only the spiritual but also the practical well-being of people through teaching about health and sanitation and agriculture
We help children in our community access primary, secondary, tertiary, vocational and university education who would otherwise be unable to attend. Providing education to our ministry children empowers them and gives our ministry children the chance to eventually help lift their families out of poverty and guides them on the choices to make in order to achieve success both now and in the future.
Our ministry provides tuition, school supplies and materials to the school going children, however, this is still a big challenge due to inadequate funding available to fund the education of our ministry children. You can help children at Springs of Mercy Charity Foundation to thrive!. When you provide a child with access to quality education you give them the opportunity to fulfil their potential. To help with tuition, school supplies and education of our ministry children. Kindly contact us by email: springsofmercyfororphanscare@gmail.com
FOOD AND NUTRITION
Ensuring our ministry children have access to healthy food is integral to our mission. 82 percent of children in the communities we serve suffer from chronic malnutrition which has a catastrophic impact on their health, stunting growth and impeding development. It is widely known that undernourishment and iron deficiency have long lasting effects into adulthood. Countless people in the communities we serve will go to bed hungry every day and night. Hunger is the result of extreme poverty, and it keeps people stuck in the poverty trap. Without nutrition, children’s minds and bodies cannot develop properly. Malnutrition compounds the effects of diseases, including HIV and AIDS, malaria, and pneumonia and it keeps people from fully engaging in productive work and income generation. In the communities we serve, The number of people who are undernourished is rising, hunger disproportionately impacts women and children—malnutrition in mothers and children contributes to 45 percent of deaths in children under the age of five. Without proper nutrition, people starve, and children are unable to learn at school. Providing nutritious food to orphans, vulnerable children, impoverished families and desperate communities is a staple at Springs of Mercy Charity Foundation

Springs of Mercy Charity Foundation ‘s aim is to supply the practical needs of the orphans, vulnerable children and impoverished families by providing food and clean water where the need is greatest. Following the principle established in James 1:27 that “pure and faultless religion is to care for orphans and widows in their affliction,” as well as “defending the cause of the fatherless and the widow, loving the alien, and giving him food and clothing,” found in Deuteronomy 10:18. Springs of Mercy Charity Foundation pursues the fulfillment of true religion. Food and water are the basic necessities of life, and Springs of Mercy Charity Foundation believes that spiritual needs are more readily met when these practical needs are satisfied. We provide nutritious food, vitamins, supplements and clean water to orphans, vulnerable children and impoverished families in the communities we serve, In collaboration and partnership with health workers and social workers, we also conduct workshops with parents on the importance of nutrition at home, including where to source affordable, healthy produce, in we make assessments, monitor, evaluate and make follow-up all aimed at improving the well-being of the people we serve. We are still looking for donors who would help us in dire need for food for the orphans, vulnerable children and impoverished families that we serve, to support and help with feeding orphans, vulnerable children and impoverished families, please contact us by email: springsofmercyfororphanscare@gmail.com
PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT

We offer workshops with partner ministers, organizations, social workers and counselors that seek to mitigate harmful behaviour and enable children to seek help and support.
Psychosocial support helps tackle social, health and psychological challenges faced by children, families and people in the communities we serve. We equip children and families with parenting and conflict resolution skills. Our social workers and psychologists also supports families one-to-one during complex social or emotional problems which leads to an improvement of well-being and trust among children, guardians, parents, ministry staff and community and can stimulate a positive attitude towards learning and change. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, MICRO – ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT & SUSTAINABILITY
At Springs of Mercy Charity Foundation , many of the children that we help and support come from families stuck in poverty.
Springs of Mercy Charity Foundation provides training and seed money for orphans, vulnerable children, women and impoverished families in the communities that we serve to start micro-enterprises which eventually become self-sustaining means of support for them and their families. Since 2021, we have helped to start grocery, vegetable growing, selling charcoal, local poultry farming, piggery, animal raring, tailoring and sewing and businesses serving over 12 families.
By supporting mothers and impoverished families with business start-up finance and ongoing training, Income Generating Activities (IGA) at Springs of Mercy Charity Foundation quickly improve the lives of our ministry children and their whole families. Fast social impact takes place when women can provide for their families and it’s sustainable.
Our IGA staff provide basic business and financial training and then finance to start the businesses, then follow up with weekly support sessions to help the business prosper. 85% of the direct beneficiaries of the IGA programmes are female since we know from experience that the economic empowerment of women leads to transformational development in families and communities. Most of these women work as day laborers, a job that’s inconsistent and unsustainable. They have to spend what little they make on things their families need to survive, and often it still isn’t enough. There is no way to save, and certainly no way to plan beyond each day.
We enable these women to start micro-enterprises ranging from selling charcoal, vegetable growing and selling, grocery to running local-style shops and produce stalls at the local market. The process also raises the status of women who traditionally lack financial independence and, therefore, a voice in family decision-making.
Without opportunities for stable income, life can become focused only on survival. It isn’t wondering how to pay for school, but rather wondering how to get enough food. The inability to work and save is more, too: it eats away at God-given dignity. HEALTH AND MEDICAL CARE
Countless individuals die every day from preventable diseases and have no access to medical attention. We seek to offer clinical services and life-saving equipment, like malaria nets, to those far off and in dire need. Our team conducts home visits, provides counselling, and offers training for parents/carers, along with medical workers and local clinic care if needed. And we run a fostering programme to help those who cannot live with their immediate families.
Jinja district and Buwenge Town Council and Rural communities in particular has one of the highest rates of HIV and AIDS prevalence in adults and youths. Place research report found that the HIV prevalence in Jinja’s urban areas was 7.5%, while the rural areas had a prevalence of 2%. Despite the fact that sensitization and awareness programs are in place, the rate of HIV/AIDS and new infections are on the increase and the stigma toward the disease is so strong that people sometimes forgo treatment for fear of people finding out they have it.
Countless children under die every day from disease, and more than many women die every day due to pregnancy or complications related to child birth. Sometimes, lack of access to health care means that it is too expensive; people go without because it seems easier than paying high prices for medicine.
