The Fount school

The Fount School started in 2014 with the aim of helping families in Africa overcome generational poverty (spiritual, mental, economic, etc.) through education. We want to be a channel for light and knowledge to the learners and their families through our curriculums and by creating spaces with a homely feel that helps the learners relax without the strictness that a school environment often exudes. We are excited about creating learning environments and materials that would ensure that the learners aren’t only getting theoretical education but are also involved in activity-based learning.

The need for education is a critical issue for the nation of Uganda, which is the second youngest nation with a median age of 15.5! Of Africa’s estimated 200 million young people, about 75 million are unemployed! Our young people are educated to be job seekers and not job creators – TFS wants to change that! Moreover, Uganda is host to more than one million refugees, more than half of whom are children. At our present location on Ggaba Road in Kampala, we have an influx of urban refugees, including Southern Sudanese, Ethiopians, Eritreans, Congolese, Burundians, and a few Rwandans.
We are, therefore, faced with the challenge of providing education to poor urban communities.

Not only are we interested in the children, we are keen to empower and equip the parents with the knowledge to help them guide their families out of poverty.

What We Do

TFS is currently teaching youngsters using the ACE curriculum (grade school), UK Early Years Framework for learners from one and half to six years of age and the Uganda local curriculum. We are looking forward to partnering with other organisations that train communities with skills that would empower them economically and spiritually.
