Our Values
1. The GRID:
We believe that healthy relationships are the core of effective ministry, so we seek to love, honour, and value God, other people, and ourselves in every situation. Living this out includes the following elements:
Keeping the Conversation Open – having the ability to disagree without breaking unity; distinguishing preference issues from principle issues.
Active Listening – we are intentional about ensuring that we have heard each other correctly, often by using such techniques as reflective listening (repeating back what we heard another say). Intentional listening and communication help us to remain on the same page across teams and the ministry as a whole.
Believing the Highest and Best of other people and their intentions.
Being Relational, not just task-oriented.
Upholding Clear and Healthy Boundaries of relationship and responsibility.
Valuing Each Person according to their intrinsic value in Christ, not according to their position or title. While we recognize that fitting titles are necessary for clearly delineating responsibilities, we stress that titles are only a description of function rather than a statement of value or power over others. Each function is equally valuable; there is no hierarchy of status (1 Cor 12).
The GRID places on us a Duty to Care for each person’s well-being; thus, safety is a top priority.
2. God at the Centre:
We believe that God is the supreme Creator and Lord of all things, perfect in wisdom. We also believe that He loves each of us with faithful and steadfast love. As such, it is our great desire to worship Him and be led by Him in everything. In particular, we value:
Spirit-Led and Anointed Teaching which allows the Holy Spirit freedom to move in our midst.
God’s Word – both his written logos word (the Bible) spoken to all humanity and his rhema word spoken to individuals.
Hearing God’s Voice Together – as we corporately pursue guidance and vision from God, we emphasize the need for the word of the Lord coupled with the peace of God and confirmation from others.
Worship which honours God through heartfelt and free expressions of love, thanksgiving, praise, and rest in the completed work of Christ.
3. Visionary and Pioneering Attitude:
God has called us to the apostolic work of going to new places, launching new ministries, and thinking outside of the status quo. Embracing this calling leads us to:
Believe God for the Impossible and trust Him to fulfil His word to us.
Be Generous – God has called us to think outside of our own lives and ministry and to give sacrificially of our resources.
Live in faith and believe in the power of persistent Prayer.
Walk in Our Anointing from God (both individually and corporately), rather than try to do things He has called others to do.
4. Family and Community:
“Build a nest of righteousness, I will make it an incubator for the miraculous.” Based on this Word of the Lord, we value creating an home-like atmosphere where people feel a sense of safety and belonging within the family of God. It’s a place where everyone can grow and fail as they learn from their experiences and from the people around them. This atmosphere is created through aspects both large and small:
Fellowship – Whanau (Family) Time, staff hangouts & retreats, sit down meals.
Design of the training centre with spaces for fellowship.
Hospitality – going above and beyond to make others feel welcome and cared for.
Good Food – an excellent starting point for fellowship among people in diversity.
Embracing Diversity of nationalities, cultures, and generations.
5. A Culture of Transformational Discipleship:
We value Jesus’ model of choosing imperfect people and training them to lead through relationship-based mentoring, teaching, and hands-on experience. As such, we seek to develop a culture which:
Is Transformational, not merely Transactional – people are not numbers, clients, or business ventures, but rather unique individuals to be related to. We don’t just do things for people and then expect them to do something in return; we serve one another, bear with each other’s failures, and make room for grace so that God’s purposes can be advanced in each person’s life.
Is Based on Discipleship, not merely Rules – rules serve to modify behaviour for a period of time but do not change the heart. We try to keep rules to a minimum and embrace the sometimes messy discipleship process which leads to lasting change from the heart.
Creates the Opportunity for young people to be released into new things.
Develops New Leaders and makes space for them to grow and flourish.
Guides Young People into the area of their calling and gifting – the right “bus” and the right “seat on the bus”.
6. Excellence and Professionalism:
God has called us to maintain a consistently high standard of quality in all that we do, from our training programs to our work environment to our physical properties. This includes:
Prompt Communication – we endeavour to respond within 48 hours to communication that we receive.
Keeping a Record of our leadership team meetings, including decisions made, reasons for taking certain actions, and Words the Lord speaks to us.
Seeking and submitting to Accountability from others in within the ministry, as well as spiritual eldership in both our local and international community who are intimately acquainted with our values.
Seeking proper Legal Advice.
Good Stewardship of our land, properties (both owned and rented), and buildings, including a high standard of cleanliness in our facilities.
