Lalmba Association

We have a down-to-earth medical services mission, with the majority of our 40-year effort placed on training African people to care for their own healthcare needs. We serve refugees, the blind and lame, orphans, those with AIDS, and tropical diseases. Our current work is in Eritrea, Sudan, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Our medical programs focus on primary health care and preventive medicine.

Our Mission

Empowering rural communities in Africa to provide their own people with high quality basic health care, effective public health initiatives, microfinance and support for vulnerable children. We have a special love for children, whom we see not as a burden, but as part of a brilliant future for Africa.

Our Values

We envision a healthy, prosperous community where all at-risk children are educated, preventable disease is eradicated, and opportunities exist for people to provide for themselves and their families.

We have a special love for children, whom we see not as a burden, but as part of a brilliant future for Africa.

What We Do

OUR WORK
At the heart of our work, we support local staff in raising up their own communities, working in close partnership with committed international volunteers and our US leadership team. Lalmba has established health clinics in areas where government or private health services are not available, and these sites are run by local medical staff, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, health educators and administrative support. Lalmba also assists school children in the communities around our clinics through our Reaching Children at Risk (RCAR) program, which offers food, school supplies, medical care and tuition help.

OUR GROWTH
We are committed to the training and education of our local staff, to help them achieve the vision they have for their communities– their families, friends and neighbors. In support of this vision, Lalmba invites qualified international volunteers with medical training or other relevant experience to help with our medical clinics, public health programs, at-risk children’s projects and staff development activities. Some volunteer opportunities require a commitment of a few months or longer, and our volunteers make a lifetime of difference.
