Walking in the Spirit

Mission Finder Podcast #37 | Season 2

Hosts: Andrew Michael Arroyo & Don Nava

Andrew Arroyo opens this episode of Mission Finder with John 10:10a: the thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. His point is practical. Satan’s mandate is to take away the abundant life by keeping you distracted and off course. So take inventory. What is in your life that is self-serving, stealing your time, killing your fruitfulness, and destroying your soul?

The Western world sells a message that you must do X, Y, and Z to be somebody. That was never Jesus’s message. His was love, obedience, sacrifice, contentment, joy, and provision that comes from Him rather than from our own striving.

If We Live in the Spirit, Let Us Walk in the Spirit

Galatians 5:25 anchors the episode. A Holy Spirit lifestyle is the practical application of that verse: moving beyond occasional spiritual experiences into a consistent, moment-by-moment reliance on the Spirit’s power. Instead of straining in our own strength, we yield and cooperate with His work in us. That shift does not only grow us personally. It empowers us for ministry that far exceeds our natural abilities.

Three Ways to Unleash the Dynamo Within

Andrew gives three action items. First, awareness. Consciously acknowledge that the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11). Second, surrender. Let go of self-reliance and let the Spirit lead your decisions, actions, and attitudes. Third, attunement. Learn to discern His voice amid the noise, through Scripture, prayer, and the inner promptings of your heart. As Joyce Meyer reminds us in Battlefield of the Mind, the Holy Spirit is our helper, always available in every situation.

Winning the Battle of the Mind

Don Nava shares how frustration drove him to ask why things were not working, and how the Holy Spirit showed him that thoughts come from three sources: the Holy Spirit, the enemy, and ourselves or the world. What we do with those thoughts determines our feelings and behavior. His model is Jesus in the wilderness, who answered temptation three times with “it is written.” Don takes thoughts captive in obedience to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and answers them with Scripture: no weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), greater is He who is in me, I am an overcomer. Then he rejects, renounces, rebukes, and resists, because James tells us to submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee.

Put It Into Practice

Spirit-powered living is not a destination but a daily journey of surrender, learning, and stepping out in faith. Start each day with a prayer of surrender. Choose one part of the fruit of the Spirit to cultivate this week. Identify your spiritual gifts and put them to work serving others this month, in your church, workplace, or community.
