At the invitation of Afrihope Missions Clinic a team of 12 individuals, including 3 optometrists, will be traveling to Berekum, Ghana, West Africa, March 22-31, 2024.
The team will be collaborating with the local hospital leadership in training Ghanan staff and establishing an eye screening clinic at the hospital which serves remote communities in the Nsoatre and Berekum areas of Ghana.
In partnership with newly trained hospital staff, the team will be conducting comprehensive eye examinations for the underserved rural communities in the hospital’s service areas and providing education on eye health and preventative measures to combat common eye conditions.
Besides providing essential services such as vision screenings, eye examinations, prescription eyeglasses and eye drops, we aim to raise awareness of the need for spiritual sight which, unlike physical sight, has eternal implications.
The team’s presence will give this newly credentialed hospital visibility in its service areas and provide a forum for the hospital to connect with local churches and the local churches to connect with their communities.
