Westfield was part of the Underground Railroad’s central route through Indiana during the 1820s and into the 1830s. The land that was once small farming communities with fields of corn and soybeans, is now transitioning to vibrant, family-focused, business-populated areas.
Locals say the greatest thing about their community is the desire among community leaders and residents to care for the well-being and health of all its residents; they call it the Westfield Welcome!
The shift in economy has created a challenge for people who want to remain in the community but are on fixed incomes or are unable to maintain the home they’ve lived in for many years.
