Our History
In 1978, Alongside Ministry was launched in Fresno, California, under the Missions ministry of the First Presbyterian Church. In 1983, the organization incorporated in Seattle, Washington, as a 501(c)(3) Christian ministry, having emerged from a short-term sending and receiving ministry to an international training and sending mission with long-term ‘Alongsiders’ serving in Europe, Great Britain, and North America.
Our mission is sustained by more than 100 churches and 3800 individuals who support missionaries working alongside Christian leaders and churches in Albania, Estonia, France, Germany, Scotland, and North America.
Alongside Ministries International - What We Do
For over twenty years we have worked with churches and leaders who have sought our help in several countries in Europe and North America. We develop ministries wherever we have the resources and competencies to serve responsibly, as God calls us, and where the needs of Christian witness are not adequately served. Our priorities are to:
We pray for and with everyone with whom we work, always seeking God’s wisdom and grace.
We develop and lead ministries to evangelize, disciple and equip young people to serve Christ.
We sponsor conferences, consultations, and study programs for the development of Christian leaders.
We recruit, train, send and provide ongoing care for people called to serve as Alongsiders in cross-cultural ministry.
We lead and prepare teams for short-term mission projects that add long-term positive value.
We provide speakers, workshops, and materials to educate and build commitment to worldwide mission.
We serve as an advocate for our international partners and collaborate to develop facilities, leadership, financial resources and accountability structures for Christian camps and study centers in regions where these strategic ministries are needed.
