COMMUNITY HEALTH & MISSIONS
Our Community Health & Missions program is a proven ministry strategy that seamlessly integrates evangelism, discipleship, and church planting with community health and development. Through this ministry people become followers of Jesus, and whole communities are mobilized to engage in development activities hence lifted out of cycles of poverty and disease. In fact this is about life in fullness that is body and soul together as one.
At Hands of Good Samaritan International, Our strategy in implementing Community Health & Missions includes church planting, training pastors, increasing access to Bibles, Evangelism, disease prevention, and poverty alleviation, but our purpose is much deeper. Our purpose is a transformation in lives and communities that is as deep as the human heart, and as broad as the whole range of the human experience in the world God made. Through our work, Jesus is recognized as Lord over all creation, and our development activities bring glory to God by reflecting the depth and breadth of His Kingdom plan.
EDUCATION
HAGOSI’S education program targets children from 6-18 years. Our efforts targets to support children to develop their potential, access quality educational opportunities, have positive relationships with peers and adults, grow up in families who care for and protect them, and to be encouraged by their communities to engage meaningfully in changes that affect them. At Hands of Good Samaritan International our ultimate goal is to see Children and young adolescents that have literacy, numeracy and critical life skills to make healthy decisions. Children and young adolescents are healthy and are active in community life. Change and young adolescents have positive relationships in supportive homes and communities.
MOTHERS TOUCH PROGRAM
WE EMBRACE
When a woman is vulnerable, she needs to feel loved, accepted and cared for physically. So, we extend a “practical embrace” as the first step in the journey of her restoration. It’s this tangible act of love that breaks barriers of mistrust, renews hope and stirs up her faith as we help improve her quality of life and assist her with the basic essential items she lacks.
We provide women with an “Embrace Package” that includes items like: a mattress, blanket, cooking saucepans, utensils, a charcoal stove, and a bucket for cleaning and hygiene purposes, along with basic pantry items. We also provide emergency relief support for medical, housing and food to some of the women when life’s challenges arise and they can no longer afford these necessities. This additional help is provided for a short period of time as we work with the mothers to achieve a more sustainable solution.
WE EMPOWER
At HAGOSI, we come alongside vulnerable women in a community of our program area and partner with them to find practical, sustainable solutions to meet their key needs. Part of this includes training them in adult literacy, various vocational courses, business classes and job opportunities necessary to earn a living.
By helping these women develop and grow their life skills, not only are we equipping them to be able to provide for their families, but we are also restoring their dignity. We passionately believe that when a woman is empowered, she can reach her full potential and her whole family is transformed.
WE ENGAGE
Once our Neighborhood Mothers complete their training and have gained the necessary skills to earn a decent living, we establish them into small groups of 10-15 where we train them on savings which result into the formation of community savings & loans associations (CSLAs). Through this savings association is where our mothers are able to borrow startup capital that they use in starting their own businesses.
By walking alongside the women through, we create sustainable solutions for them to take care of their families. The women are also encouraged to reach out into their communities, using what they’ve learned to help equip other women with vocational skills.
HOPE THE AGED PROGRAM
Hope for the aged program is a proven ministry strategy of Hands of good Samaritan International that targets to extend the love of Jesus Christ to those who need it most especially the elderly. We target to visit the elder and we will not forget to visit the prisons, hospitals, with the aim of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed. Through this intervention, people in need become followers of Jesus who will be transformed to change their communities.
In partnership with other local churches and mission minded organizations, our strategy includes visiting the elderly, the sick in the hospitals, inmates in various prisons, and the disabled persons in the community. Our purpose is to see transformation in lives of the needy in communities. Through our work, we want to see Jesus recognized as Lord over all creation, and our development activities bring glory to God through our Hope for the aged initiative.
OUR PROGRAM AREAS.
Hands of Good Samaritan International is currently implementing its programs in the communities.
However plans are in place to expand our interventions to new areas within the city and beyond.
The Local Church in a community.
HAGOSI implements its program in partnership with the local churches specifically because of the following reasons.
The church is the key to give back hope and a sense of value to those who have had it taken away. So there is no problem or calamity has to change the fact that we are made in God’s image and we all have a great commission to fulfill.
Church leaders have position of influence in the community so can help to change judgmental attitudes. This will help change lives and restore hope among the churches and communities
The church is part of the community and so there is an impossibility in working in the church without the community either is it possible to work in the community without the church
The local church is at the heart of the community, it really has an impact on the people’s lives. If the local church is empowered it can influence the whole community
The church has got all categories of people, youth, children men and women. It’s a way to reach every one and mobilize people
