Students Living a Mission

Students Living a Mission (SLAM) mobilizes students ages 12-25 to live a mission in imitation of Jesus Christ by serving the poor and underprivileged through community service. We partner with local churches and other groups and provide intentional domestic and international mission trips that develop the participants as much as they benefit those being served. Students are equipped to learn God’s word, experience God’s presence, and discover the call to serve wherever they go.

Our History

Students Living a Mission was founded in 2001 as a youth mission extension of the ministry of Global Outreach Developments International (www.godinternational.org). In the past 20 years, hundreds of churches and thousands of students have partnered with SLAM to serve like Jesus.

Our Mission

Students Living a Mission (SLAM) mobilizes students ages 12-25 to live a mission in imitation of Jesus Christ by serving the poor and underprivileged through community service.

Our Values

God’s Word is the basis for everything we do. We are transformed by the life and teaching of Jesus and given direction about how we can best love God and love our neighbors (locally and globally). This ongoing connection with the Lord is also what sustains us to live out his expectations as we bring His kingdom to earth. We believe that each person is called to ministry in the world. We practice “living in the moment” to recognize that God can meet us in our immediate circumstances and we can serve in both great and humble ways.

What We Do

We engage in community development and specifically address the needs of immigrants, refugees, widows, the elderly, and children knowing that Jesus ministered to the marginalized as so we do too. We do this with the United States primarily through our long-term relationships in Nashville, TN as well as globally in El Salvador, Uganda, India, and the Philippines.
