Oak Life — School of Orphan Care

The School of Orphan Care in Chapala, Mexico is 6 months of intensive classes and orphanage volunteering, preparing students to holistically and sustainably care for abandoned children around the world.

Our History

Oak Life was founded in 2018 by Cameron and Eden Talbot, both caregivers and teachers at an orphanage in Mexico. The organization was formed to address the issues of staff turnover and lack of training for homes in need of good caregiving and directing staff.

Our mission is to educate and empower orphanage directors, caregivers and advocates, so they can holistically and sustainably care for abandoned children.

What We Do

Our School of Orphan Care brings in students from around the world to be trained in areas of Trauma-Informed Childcare, Sustainable Missions and Orphanage Administration. We partner with local homes in Chapala, Mexico, where students put what they’ve learned into action, volunteering to complete work projects, build healthy relationships with the kids, and assisting the homes in administration.
