Reach Beyond

In 1927, God called Clarence Jones to “Arise and go south with the Gospel… using Radio.” Clarence would start Radio Station HCJB in Quito, Ecuador in 1931. The mission would grow into a global ministry, known as HCJB World Radio, that was guided by these two foundational verses:

“Call unto me and I will show you great and mighty things which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

“Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.” Zechariah 4:6

Reach Beyond began as the world’s first missionary radio station, but our founders were willing to use any means, tools or technologies available to help present the Gospel. The mission also recognized the need to demonstrate the Gospel in practical ways which led to the development of medical and community development ministries. Our goal was never to just present or demonstrate the Gospel, rather to obey Jesus’s command to go make disciples. One of the strengths of Reach Beyond is that from the very founding of the mission, we were committed to doing ministry through partnership with national believers, the local church, and like-minded ministries.

Our Mission

Serving as the voice and hands of Jesus, we declare and demonstrate Jesus Christ through media, healthcare and community development.

Our Values

DEPENDENCE ON GOD
John 15, Hebrews 11:1
Jesus is the vine; we are the branches. We are completely dependent on Him in every aspect of our lives. We seek God’s guidance and trust the Holy Spirit to lead us in bold faith to do His will, not ours, with excellence and integrity. We recognize that He is the provider of everything we have and everything we need.

CO-LABORING
1 Corinthians 3:6-9; Matthew 9:38
As one body of Christ with many parts, we come together with a variety of skills, resources, and experiences to make disciples of all nations. Those who bless our ministry through their prayers and gifts are equal partners in ministry. We collaborate with others to reach beyond geographical, cultural, and organizational boundaries to accomplish the mission God has given us.

INNOVATIVE MINISTRY
Exodus 35:10, 30-35; 1 Peter 4:10-11
The Spirit of God has equipped His people with all kinds of skills, knowledge and wisdom. As good stewards of every resource and opportunity He has provided, we continually seek innovative and effective ways to carry out voice and hands ministries in a world that is constantly changing.

What We Do

We reach unreached people by sending missionaries where we can go.
We reach unreached people by broadcasting media over borders where we cannot yet go.
And we reach unreached people by looking for opportunities to serve where unreached people come to us, as in working with refugee and diaspora populations.
We do this primarily through the tools of radio, digital media, healthcare and community development.
