You’ll serve in partnership with a long-term missionary family on outreach projects like children’s ministry, construction, volunteering at a medical clinic, and prayer ministry. With its lush rainforests, sunny coastline, and Latin culture, it’s an adventure waiting to happen!
While tourism is alive and well today, a high unemployment rate means many locals suffer from both material and spiritual poverty.
Along with Lifetree Adventures, you’ll have an opportunity to serve in partnership with a long-term missionary family.

Known for its diverse culture and delicious seafood, the port of Guayaquil is Ecuador’s largest city. The famous Parque Historico holds lush gardens, historic pastel-colored houses, and animals native to the country. For those looking for more outdoor adventures, snow-topped volcanoes offer hiking and biking trails, and the Amazon jungle holds wildlife watching, horseback riding, and paragliding.
Ecuador is a mixing pot of cultures. And while the official language is Spanish, you may hear up to 10 native languages as you travel through the country. Afro-Ecuadorians are famous for their marimba music and dance festivals.
Although Ecuador has seen its days of political unrest, it’s currently one of the safest countries in South America.
On your Lifetree Adventure to Ecuador you’ll live and work side by side with a local family! Here, you’ll help a hillside community of approximately 30,000 residents prepare for the upcoming rainy season by helping with construction projects, putting in water systems, and building much-needed bathroom facilities. Today you’d hardly know it as you walk down picturesque Lake Street, passing a variety of unique shops. Founded on the banks of the lazy Susquehanna River in 1787, the village of Owego is surrounded by the soft green mountains of upstate New York. Life feels good here.
People greet each other warmly on the streets—and strangers are welcomed.
But the sad truth is that poverty has always stalked the “Southern Tier” of New York. While other Empire State communities prospered, the economy here has always revolved around small farms and timber—translation: hard work and low pay.
There was a brief fling with better times in the 1960s and 70s, when a large tech firm built a plant that provided hundreds of good-paying jobs—but today the firm and the jobs are gone. Bring hope and help where one child in five lives in a food-insecure home.
